Abstract

The development of Taiwan´s integrated circuit (IC) industry is discussed in four sections covering the history of industry. The performance of the industry, the trends and development activities, and the future challenges. The latest data describing the industry are provided by Taiwan ERSO/ITRI ITIS project. The data cover the operations, marketing and technology indices, industry development goals, and investment trends that serve as a reference to regional developments in the IC industry. The paper also provides figures depicting the diversified supply system, the inter-relationship between investors, and the strategic alliances emerging in the Taiwan IC industry
