Abstract :
Quantitative decay measurement of the second-harmonic generation (SHG) at various elevated temperatures is reported for a GeO2-SiO2 glass with 15.7 GeO2 mole%, poled with UV irradiation. It has been observed that the decay behaviour of the induced SHG is a single-exponential process in the temperature range 200-500°C. From the Arrhenius plot of the decay time-constant, the activation energy of the induced SHG is 0.41±0.05 eV, and the decay time-constant at 15°C is ~280 days
