Abstract :
The chopper rectifier system converts AC power to DC power. The system rectifies AC power by utilizing a step-down transformer and unregulated diode rectifier to provide a bulk DC bus. The chopper circuit modulates the current from the bulk DC bus to provide a regulated output. This paper describes how DC-chopper systems have many operational benefits over conventional diode or thyristor rectifiers
