Abstract :
The first use of hybrid assembly techniques for a balanced polarisation diversity receiver for optical coherent multichannel systems is reported. The design, construction and performance of a lithium niobate polarisation diversity chip with an InP four photodetector array and a GaAs MESFET amplifier are described.
