Abstract :
We study the scattering of an H-polarized electromagnetic plane wave by an equidistant array of parallel gyrotropic cylinders located perpendicular to the incidence plane in free space. Conditions are determined under which the individual and collective resonant effects in such a scattering system can lead to the formation of a 2D-periodic chessboard-type pattern of the total electromagnetic field near the array.
