Abstract
The authors describe how the abundant hydropower resources in Southwest China will be exploited on a large scale during the next three decades. A number of large hydropower projects in this region will be completed during this period. Among them is a project with two large hydropower stations. One station will have the same total capacity as the Itaipu Power Station in Brazil, and the other will have close to half the capacity of the first. Exploitation of such hydropower resources in the region can continually provide clean energy to Eastern, Central, and Southern China.
