Abstract
Because of the wide coverage and easy access, public communication network plays an important role in disaster relief. However, according to statistics, communication facilities, especially terrestrial wire, would be damaged by disasters easily. The BTSs which are the major node of public communication would be out of service because of the interruption of the transmission. Therefore, improving the reliability of transmission by automatic switchover between terrestrial and satellite transmission is a key issue to design anti-disaster BTS. A switchover mechanism without complex modification to both satellite communication system and GSM system is introduced, as well as a method of low-cost auto-tracking antenna.
