Abstract
Capacitor planning is based on network voltage maintenance under the normal and abnormal power system operation. The security against contingencies, the transformer tap setting and system voltage steady state operating limits together with other variables feasible range define the problem boundaries. This paper presents optimum planning of static capacitors for a practical system model by studying the transformer tap setting and expanded system voltage limits impact.
