Abstract :
CSS tests were performed at different startup disk accelerations to investigate its effect on the stiction behaviour of laser textured and mechanically textured disks at zero dwell and long time dwell times. Constant speed drag tests were performed at different speeds to investigate friction as a function of disk velocity. Both nano- and pico-sliders were used in the experiments. The effects of disk acceleration and velocity on stiction and friction are discussed in terms of meniscus formulation and viscous effects of the lubricant
