Abstract
A unique, low-cost laser radar is described. The system employs a pulsed semiconductor laser-diode transmitter operating at a 820-nm wavelength, a p-i-n diode receiver, and an ECL counter to measure the time of flight of the laser pulse. The target tracking is achieved by a conic scan technique, and a personal computer performs the necessary computation to display the range, position, and speed of the target.<>
