Abstract :
Micromagnetic modeling is utilized to study the gyromagnetic switching limitations in thin film media. The dependence of switching time on film microstructures under uniform applied field is quantitatively investigated. For media with the same Mrt, reducing the film thickness and increasing intergranular exchange coupling reduces the switching time at damping constants α less than 0.1. The effect is more significant for smaller α values. Oriented media have a longer switching time than isotropic media
