Abstract :
Studies on wave-breaking phenomena have been pursued widely in unmagnetized plasmas over the past years unlike, that in magnetized plasmas. In this paper, we present a brief account of investigations done by the authors recently in the field of wave-breaking of electrostatic plasma oscillations in a magnetic field. The relevance of our investigations is highlighted through some potential applications of wave-breaking, namely, plasma heating and particle energization.
