Abstract :
The announcement of the electronics industry´s latest invention, a programmable large-scale logic circuit known as the microprocessor, was accompanied with as much fanfare as a film star´s baby, but it is only now that products incorporating microprocessors are becoming numerous. One of the causes for delay was the considerable initial effort needed from engineers and their managers to understand the microprocessor´s advantaaes and limitations. Early users had to teach themselves; but what was really needed was a choice of training programmes, which have only recently become available
