Abstract :
Results of an investigation into reported incidents of network voltage instability within a 132 kV transmission network in Western Australia are presented. The cause of the problem was found to be inappropriate settings of the under excitation limiters on two recently installed gas turbines. It is shown, through simulation studies, how the limiter settings can be modified to overcome the stability problem. Results of tests validate the effectiveness of the proposed modifications
