Abstract :
Measurements play a major role in the running of the electrical power industry and, from the time of its origin, instruments in one form or another have been used to perform this vital function. As in other walks of life, however, changes have taken place and improvements have been demanded. Instruments have changed in presentation and performance, and new styles have become available. Technology development and international influence have brought about changes also in the design of instruments and the transducers which often complement them. Some of these changes are examined in this article and the reasons behind them discussed
