Abstract :
The stability of time-domain transmission control of dispersion-managed (DM) solitons is studied. We show by a linear stability analysis that appropriate positioning of synchronous amplitude modulators in the dispersion map can stabilize the propagation of DM solitons without simultaneous use of bandpass filters when the pulse energy is sufficiently large. It is also shown that the frequency chirp of the pulse at the position of the modulator critically affects the stability.
