  • Abstract
A broadband 64 kbit/s DS-CDMA overlay in the same frequency space as a GSM signal has been implemented experimentally in a fading environment. With a single CDMA user, error-free operation of both systems was demonstrated over a 39 and 58 dB dynamic range for the unlink and the downlink, respectively. The work utilised a novel CDMA receiver architecture that enabled a 30 dB digital notch filter to be applied at RF. This represents the first experimental demonstration of a true GSM network overlay in a realistic radio channel
