  • Abstract
A future integrated broadband network that can deliver video to the home is discussed. The data component of the network is not addressed; the focus is on the transport, distribution, and switching of video services. The impact of advancing technologies, changing economics, and dynamic market forces on the network´s development is considered. The system is envisioned for the year 2000 and beyond. Although digital distribution of video to the home is technically possible today, it is not yet economically feasible. The benefits such a system offers to the consumer are examined.<>
