Abstract
The hierarchical dispatch and control system (HDCS) of Taiwan Power Company, to be implemented in two stages, is a three-level control system which consists of a CDCS (central dispatch and control system), seven ADCSs (area dispatch and control systems) and 21 remote DDCSs (distribution dispatch and control systems). This work provides a description of the HDCS. Emphasis is on the overall structure, function, data communication and implementation plan. Implementation of the HDCS is expected to result in substantial advantages such as enhancing the reliability of system operation, increasing the quality of power supply, providing operation with accurate and reliable data, reducing operational cost and manpower, improving the environment, etc
