Abstract :
The increasing demand for skilled engineers in the fields of data communications and telecommunications industries called for the introduction of a new and unique undergraduate degree program for communication systems engineering. The methodology for determining the needs of this program, the formulation of its curriculum, a description of the communication systems engineer, and the student reaction to the program is presented in this paper. The program opened in the fall semester of 1996 with 60 students (about 1:10 admission ratio) and now has an enrolment of more than 200 students (with the same admission ratio)
