Abstract
This paper presents a strategic decision model based on a value function which correlates Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) investments in design to long-run availability and operational cost improvements. This RAMS Driven Design Value-based strategic decision Model (RDD-VM) aims to support designers and operators to make the right strategic decisions for the effective implementation of RAMS in the design process of complex technical systems, especially since upfront resources are scarce as ever.
