Abstract :
This issue of the historical corner hosts a paper from Sándor Jeszenszky, former Director of the Hungarian Museum of Electrotechnics in Budapest. The paper describes the developments that in about 60 years lead from Faraday´s discovery of electromagnetic induction (1831) to the experimental verification of electromagnetic waves by Hertz (1888), and finally to Marconi´s radio (1895). The paper also presents photos of instruments kept at various museums (e.g. Figure 1), recreating these key experiments.
