Abstract :
The paper is a general description of the hydro-electric development at the Serra de Cubatão, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The general load and climatic conditions which led to the development are outlined, together with the advantages of the site chosen for the power house andreservoirs. The method of the provision of power for constructional purposes is next described. There follow details of the permanent lay-out and the construction of the power house and its equipment. The switch-house lay-out and equipment, and the control and relay systems are described. Details of the earthing system, the 88 000-volt outdoor equipment, the transmission line and the São Caetano terminal station for the city of São Paulo are set forth. Finally, the capacity and cost of the development and the São Paulo system are dealt with.
