Abstract :
The scientific concepts central to electrical engineering are traced historically. The work of early pioneers in mathematics and physics is examined briefly. The evolution of the field concept is discussed. The work of Heaviside and ensuing developments in loading coils, wave filters, electron tubes, Laplace transforms, waveguides, and solid-state electronics are described.<>
