Abstract
Proper battery installation techniques and operating condition indicators are often unintentionally overlooked and/or misinterpreted. An understanding of these indicators will aid in preventing or overcoming operating problems which can result. Good maintenance is the key to successful long-term battery operation. This paper will address the questions when, how, and why? Currently there is no one maintenance inspection form existing today which provides complete and concise recording of both maintenance readings and correction factors required. This paper provides a suggested form. Although this paper specifically addresses batteries used in generating stations, its contents may be extended to batteries used in other industry applications.
