Abstract :
The monolithic integration of a tunable DBR laser and electroabsorption modulator is reported. A common strained multiquantum well active layer is used for the three optical functions of this device. A tuning range of 7.4 nm and an extinction ratio higher than 12 dB for all the eight accessible channels are reported at 1.55 μm
