Abstract
An adaptive approach to FIR (finite impulse response) filter design is applied to a fully general complex specification, showing it to be capable of giving an optimum Chebyshev solution. It is thought to be one of the first practical approaches to achieve this in the case of a complex function. Design examples include a bandpass filter with nearly linear phase and all-pass filters with general shaping phase. Comparisons are drawn with equivalent results from other algorithms
