  • Abstract
    Nowadays, DC uninterruptible power supply (DC-UPS) systems are becoming a reliable solution in order to improve the efficiency in switch-mode power supplies. An important challenge in the incorporation of power factor correction and fast dynamic output response is low-cost power electronic hardware. This paper describes a novel and simple DC-UPS structure, which offers excellent characteristics in terms of cost, size, and efficiency, taking into account a reduced number of power semiconductors. A complete analysis and design considerations are presented in such a way that the previously-mentioned characteristics are achieved. An experimental prototype was built to verify the converter characteristics, and the obtained experimental results are also included
