Abstract
Methods intended for the measurement of combustibility are briefly reviewed. The need for fire safety assessment to address parameters that extend beyond a material´s tendency to burn is discussed. Emphasis is placed on recent developments in fire testing which provide a more complete characterization of a material´s fire behavior and associated fire hazards. Fire test apparatus and toxicity and corrosivity of combustion products are considered.<>
