Abstract
The use of the electromagnetic transients program (EMTP) to simulate the field-oriented control in an induction-motor drive system, prior to its hardware implementation, is described. Specifically, the interface needed between the universal machine model within EMTP and the field-orientation control is described. The results include torque and speed control, effect of incorrect rotor time constant, and the simulation results of a current-regulated inverter using a tolerance-band control
