Abstract
This study provides indicators to characterise the performance of an electrical power system subjected to sustained random perturbations in time. Based on these indicators, a methodology is proposed in order to carry out a fine adjustment of PSS parameters. The goal of this procedure is to improve the efficiency of traditional tuning techniques, which are based on small signal stability criteria. The proposed methodology is applied to two international test systems of nine and 39 buses.
