Abstract
The European EMC Directive, 2004/108/EC, contains both technical and administrative obligations for manufacturers. Both sets of requirements need to be met in order to claim overall compliance with the Directive; however, evidence suggests that it is the administrative compliance that is more likely to be deficient. So what are the administrative requirements and where do the problems lie in practice? This paper will discuss the issues and use excerpts from real Declarations of Conformity (DoC) to illustrate the points being made.
