Abstract :
Practical radiated immunity testing in a reverberation chamber requires testing activities different from classical radiated immunity tests performed according to IEC 61000-4-3. Especially investigatory tests like HALT (High Amplitude Limit Testing) analysis, where less than 12 stirrer positions are favorable in terms of speeding up the test, new strategies must be applied for the frequency scanning methodology and for the interpretation of the results. The practical testing has also revealed that the mains power adaptor may prove to be the Achilles heel of systems not comprising a dedicated power supply. The response and immunity of the mains adaptors has proved to be a limiting factor for the EMC properties of small data transmission systems. The paper presents the chamber behavior, the usefulness of stirrer stroke analysis as well as the observations and conclusions drawn from practical equipment testing.
