Abstract :
Semiconductor lasers are compact, lightweight devices providing a choice of wavelengths and powers. Output power may be continuous at low levels or of high peak value at low duty factor. These capabilities have led to a variety of military applications, including communications, missile guidance, weapon simulators for training exercises, target illumination/marking, `trip-wire¿ alarms, range finding and proximity fuses
