Abstract
Scattering at a waveguide end facet or other waveguide discontinuities can be calculated by an iterative method together with rational approximations to the related square root operators. Previous work uses the classical Neumann series as the iteration scheme. We demonstrate that the method can be significantly improved if bi-conjugate gradient stabilized is used instead.
