  • Abstract
    An analytical model is proposed to fully characterize the modal structure of 3D metamaterial cavities which can be used to improve the properties of reverberation chambers. The metamaterials are modelled by a complex reflection coefficient. We discuss the valid ranges of indices of the resonant frequencies as function of the phase of reflection coefficients. A set of rules for counting the number of modes is proposed. Using numerical simulations, the number and the density of modes when using different reflection coefficients are evaluated.
