Abstract :
Version 1.0 of the DPoETM Specifications provides a mechanism for automated device and service provisioning that is consistent with MSOs´ existing DOCSIS provisioning infrastructure. Examining the extension of the DPoE provisioning model to accommodate S-OAM suggests aspects of the current IEEE and MEF configuration management model appear to be at odds with the DPoE model. In this article, we examine the need for S-OAM in DPoE Networks, look deeper into the operation and configuration aspects of S-OAM, and propose a novel approach to automating the process.
