Abstract :
The authors report a novel 1.3 μm actively modelocked semiconductor ring laser which generates near transform-limited pulses as short as 1.9 ps at a repetition rate of 10 GHz. The laser is constructed from discrete fibre pigtailed components and an electroabsorption modulator is used as the modelocking element
