Abstract :
Training in the Royal Navy has to be managed and delivered in a cost-effective and cost-efficient manner, enabling the trainees to gain maximum benefit from the experience and ensuring the taxpayer gets value for money. The training takes into account the needs of a disciplined Service and the particular demands of the Naval lifestyle, whilst recognising the need to award civilian qualifications where possible. This article discusses Naval Training Strategy, the formation of the Naval Recruiting and Training Agency (NRTA), Engineering Training conducted by the NRTA and the Royal Navy Training System (RNTS). It concludes with an outline of the partnering initiative being taken forward with UK industry
