Abstract :
The stable operation of a mode-locked dye laser synchronously pumped by the second harmonic of an Nd:YAG laser produced in a Nd codoped germanosilicate optical fibre is reported. The optical fibre preparation technique which results in a second harmonic conversion efficiency of 2% is described. This optical fibre SHG conversion efficiency is the highest reported to date using a continuous-wave mode-locked laser.
