            Abstract :
A Cerenkov microlaser (CML) is proposed. The device uses an electron beam and a semiconducting-film-loaded open, quasi-optical resonator to produce coherent, electromagnetic radiation at submillimeter and far-infrared wavelengths. General expressions for the tuning, gain, and constraints due to beam quality are used, together with optical and material considerations to establish operating characteristics
