A means of providing controlled acceleration and deceleration and also controlled regenerative emergency braking on ward-leonard mine hoists

The paper is brief description of a system devised by the author to exercise control over the rate of acceleration and deceleration of Ward-Leonard and Ward-Leonard Ilnger mine winders by purely electrical means, irrespective of the position of the driver´s control lever. It also describes how the system is used for controlled regenerative braking in embergency. The paper consists of the following parts:-
