Fire-detection and alarm systems

Manually operated fire-alarm systems are used mainly to protect people at work. Automatic systems are used to protect people or property at all times, especially at night. Some parts of systems are individually covered by British and European Standards and recommendations on system installation are given in a Code of Practice. The choice of fire detectors and their siting is critical to the satisfactory performance of automatic systems.
