Abstract :
PROPRIETARY INTERESTS have helped scupper many worthwhile ideas in IT in the past. The concept of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) looks to be different because the vendors have finally got the idea that their software needs to talk to programs developed by competitors. That means the widespread adoption of standards. The only problem is that they might have overdone it.
