Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of selecting an optimal preventive maintenance policy that maximizes generation for thermal power plants considering the probability distribution of the failure and repair time of the important power plant equipment. It compares the optimal generation figures for three different maintenance policies and suggests the policy which maximizes the total generation. A simulation model is presented considering 14 equipment/components as critical for the availability of the plant. It has practical importance so far as maintenance actions of thermal power plants are considered
