Abstract :
Measured results are given for a novel microstrip antenna with in-built pattern control capabilities. The antenna element consists of a metal path etched onto alumina substrate with a thick ferrite overlay, which is then magnetised by a permanent magnet. H-plane patterns showing a 30° scan are given and a simple analysis of this new device explains the principal mechanisms involved
