Abstract :
In this letter, the small-scale variations of cross-polar discrimination (XPD) are shown to have a generalized Beta prime distribution in Nakagami-m fading channels. Closed-form expressions for the expectation and standard deviation of the XPD are given and the impact of Nakagami-m parameters on the statistical behavior of the XPD is analyzed. The accuracy of the XPD model has been investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. Indoor measurements have been conducted at 2.4 GHz to validate the derived XPD model. The theoretical distribution shows a better fit with the experiment results compared with the conventional XPD model derived in Ricean fading channels.
