Abstract :
TrapCAD is a PC code to simulate the spatial and energy structure of the lost and nonlost (plasma) electrons in ECR, multicusp, and other ion source plasmas. The spatial position and the energy evolution of 104-106 electrons can be followed simultaneously. In this paper, the three main electron populations (cold, warm, and hot) of electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source plasmas are visualized in 2-D and 3-D modes. The axial view of single, double, and triple ECR plasmas were also calculated and shown.
