Abstract
Two points, essential for both floppy disk and rigid disk drive testing, are provided. It is thought that the best test for computer components, particularly disk drives, is the actual application itself in the computer; the drive must work in the computer, regardless of the test results. Also, it is necessary to utilize better software to simulate typical operator usage. The major commercial diagnostic programs evaluated to date have severe limitations especially for the development of programs designed.
