Abstract :
An atmospheric pressure plasma jet interacting with a glass plate is investigated. The plasma jet is a dielectric barrier discharge excited with a kilohertz voltage source. The plasma plume consists of discrete plasma pulses, and when they interact with the dielectric plate, the plasma dissipates over the surface, and streamerlike ionization fingers branch out from this. The dynamics of the interaction is investigated with time resolved optical emission spectroscopy on a nanosecond time scale.
